Haplopoma graniferum (Johnston, 1847)

Morphology: 

Haplopoma graniferum is an encrusting bryozoan that forms small glass-like or white patches. Autozooids are elongate and hexagonal. They are typically 0.6-0.85 by 0.2-0.4 mm.

Distribution: 

Haplopoma graniferum ranges from Shetland to the Mediterranean.

Habitat: 

The species is able to colonise a variety of substrates. It is commonly found under stones and boulders on rocky shores from above the mid tide level to the low water mark. It has also been recorded on Posidonia seagrass.
