Morphology:
Schizomavella auriculata is an encrusting bryozoan that forms broad irregular sheets, composed of either a single or multiple layers of autozooids. Autozooids are rectangular to polygonal and convex. They are 0.4-0.7 by 0.2-0.3 mm and arranged in radiating linear series.
Distribution:
Schizomavella auriculata ranges from the Western Isles of Scotland to western Ireland, southwest Wales, the Channel Islands and the western English Channel. The precise geographic range is uncertain owing to previous confusion of this species with Schizomavella cuspidata.
Habitat:
The species is able to colonise shell, other hard substrates and seagrass. It occurs in subtidal waters.
