Stomachetosella normani

Morphology:

Stomachetosella normani is an encrusting bryozoan that forms thick spreading sheets which are yellowish-white to dull reddish brown. Autozooids are hexagonal to polygonal, flat or slightly convex. They are 0.5-0.6 by 0.3-0.5 mm.

Distribution:

Stomachetosella normani is known from Shetland and the Faroe Isles, where it occurs together with Stomachetosella cruenta. It is thought to perhaps be more generally distributed in the cold northeast Atlantic that present records suggest.

Habitat:

The species is able to colonise stones and shells in offshore waters.
