General description:
Amphiblestrum solidum is an encrusting bryozoan, recorded mainly from Arctic-boreal waters. The colonies from thick, spreading sheets predominantly on hard substrates, but occasionally also on algae. The species occurs in offshore, subtidal waters from the mid-shelf down to 700 m. It is frequently found on coarse gravel and shell banks.
Amphiblestrum solidum is widely distributed in the cold North Atlantic, extending south to Norway, Shetland and the coasts of Scotland and Ireland. The species is present on the Atlantic coast of Canada in St. Lawrence Bay, Labrador and Hudson Bay and it has been recorded from western Greenland and the Barents and Chukotsk Seas.
