General description:
Dendrobeania fruticosa is an erect bryozoan, occasionally collected from the North Sea. The colony is composed of slender dichotomous branches forming delicate tufts. Autozooids are linear, slightly narrow at proximal end (closest to the colony origin). They are typically 0.75-1.0 by 0.3 mm.
The species is able to colonise hydroids, shells, stones and other Bryozoan species. It ranges from shallow subtidal water (1.5 m) to approximately 300 metres.
Dendrobeania fruticosa is an Arctic species, recorded particularly from Greenland and Labrador, but occasionally found in the northern North Sea.
