General description:
Tricellaria peachii is an erect bryozoan, forming slender tufts approximately 2.5 cm in height. The colonies are composed of glossy white dichotomous branches with are jointed. The colony attached to the substrate via root-like rhizoids, mainly in the lower part of the colony. Autozooids are elongate and oval, narrowing proximally. They are typically 0.65 – 0.85 by 0.18 mm.
Tricellaria peachii is able to colonise shells, stones. hydroids and other bryozoan species. It is mainly found in offshore waters and ranges from 10 – 475 m.
The species is found in Shetland, extending south to Scarborough, Yorkshire on the east coast and north to Spitzbergen, Norway. The species is also found along the American coast, south toe Massachusetts.
