Bryozoans in this family form erect and tufted, or adnate, creeping colonies. Autozooids budded singly at varying intervals along the stolon, attached to it by the larger part of their basal surfaces, thus appearing recumbent; bilaterally symmetrical. Embryos brooded within the tentacle sheath.
