Description:

Beschrijving Porella sp. in De Blauwe (2009). Vormt een klein korstje op lege schelpkleppen. Zoïden ovaal of veelhoekig. Opening breder dan lang met brede lage lyrula en onopvallende scharnierpunten. Twee heel korte orale stekels bij zoïden zonder broedkamer. Een peristoom omsluit de opening proximaal en lateraal en heeft een bultje medio-proximaal van de opening. Het avicularium ligt loodrecht in het peristoom en verbergt de proximale grens van de opening waardoor de lyrula moeilijk te zien is. Avicularium ovaal met dun dwarsbalkje. Frontaal oppervlak ruw gekorreld met opvallende marginale poriën. Broedkamer ruw gekorreld met 2 tot 5 opvallende poriën. Komt grotendeels overeen met Porella minuta (Norman, 1868) maar de broedkamers hebben poriën en er zijn sporen van twee distale orale stekels. Porella minuta heeft ongeperforeerde broedkamers en is stekelloos.

Porella:
This article is about the genus of liverwort. For the bryozoan genus, see Porella (bryozoan).

Porella is a large, common, and widespread genus of liverworts in order Jungermanniales. It is a member of the family Porellaceae within that order. There are more than 100 species known, most of them from East Asia. The genus has a wide distribution in temperate areas, where it is commonly found growing attached to the bark of trees.

Distribution:

Voorkomen Porella sp. uit De Blauwe (2009). In juni 2005 werden minstens 12 kolonies gevonden op schelpkleppen op de Hinderbanken.
